If you read my previous post, Zodiac Sign Compatibility and Your Relationships, then you should have a basic knowledge of the four astrology elements and the three zodiac signs assigned to each of them, but let's dig a little deeper to get a better understanding. Today I want to talk about the element fire and the fire zodiac signs.Read more

Today I went to buy red worms for our compost bin. One bag of 1,000 worms cost me nearly 30 bucks. The worms seem to be nice, though pretty shy... I unpacked them into the ready-in-advance soil and of they went into a warm, dark and moisten world, the underground.
I was told that red worms do not like bread, so I am currently doing a small test with the worms and feeding them few different types of vegetables and of course, a piece of bread. As you can see from the pictures, it's a race against time (in worm terms).
Enjoy the pictures :-)

An organic garden is a wonderful balance of elements that complement and aide one another in becoming a tight little ecosystem that will be a joy to tend and watch develop over the years. It does take a lot of input, especially in the early days of your garden, but it is well worth the effort.

To me, there is no organic food without social justice. Actually, it is social justice that led me to pledge to eat only organic grown meat: I've seen videos of mistreated chicken (beaten by employees) that revolted me, only to understand that employees were themselves subject to high stress. The two biggest poultries of the U.S have the lowest accidents reports rate, even lower than toy factories. Amazing, when you know the battery of sharp knives and speed of task processing the employees deal with everyday. Impossible? Actually yes.Read more

There are so many essential oils available, that I will never be able to sample them all. Some I use for their medicinal quality, others simply for their fragrance. I tend to lean toward the sweet smelling floral ones; such as jasmine, neroli,or ylang-ylang. Vanilla is another scent I love. Others such as patchouli are a little too "earthy" for me. I use lavender a lot in my bath salts, linen sprays, monster spray and dream pillows because of its calming and sedative properties. But I admit, its fragrance is a little too medicinal for me, and I often pair it with vanilla, tangerine, or sweet orange. In my dream pillows I mix it with other "sleep herbs" such as roses, chamomile, and hops. (Gardenchick)

Any investment in further increasing our dependence on oil is a not only a foolish waste of resources and time but increases the impact on our society when the crunch shows up. As posted earlier, the amount of energy required to pump dwindling reserves is increasing, from 100:1 in the 1930's to 11:1 today.Read more

This is the first garden, organic of course, I helped establish in Bermuda. On the right, behind the bench is the first bed, it was already full of soil and ornamentals. We planted lemon balm, parsley, bell peppers, marigolds, mesclun mix, jalapenos, kale, and red lettuce and are still harvesting from it.Read more
