We are more than we eat. We are an ever-evolving product of what we put in, what doesn't come out, and what we do with what we've got.

I live in a home with a 104 year old matriarch. She was a musician in her time, & goes by the name of a character she played in San Francisco of the late '30, so she's more erudite and cultured than most people no matter their age. She has had a remarkable life, and the 4 generations of women who make up this family, quite extraordinary each and every one of them, are great teachers that I am learning and my life being...

Technology enables constant connection, yet at the same time it turns us distant. The information revolution can not change our innate nature, even though most techie friends of ours would prefer to be left to their own social devices. The need for bonding, or close physical contact with other human beings, remains with us throughout our lifetimes. Scientific studies have shown that the amount of body contact in our lives plays a vital role in our mental and physical development as infants and in our happiness and vigor as adults.

In a grown man, skin covers...

Didja see Bush smile? Ex Prez Bush smiled when he ducked and avoided - successfully I might add - the shoes flung at him. Hurled, thrown, lobbed - what does it matter? He had fun, and it was diplomacy at the simplest, most basic level: two kids playing, happily. (-Don't believe me? Watch the Video : - )

Except that it was only one who was unhappy, and thus disgruntled. IS anyone talking about that, or is that Tabboooooooo? Even now, even after Bush tooooooooooo>-?

=^_^= this silent day, with U away, is spent in thought, of days together.

Thoughts, barely seen, but imagined.. well and deep, as if experienced already.
Thoughts my friend, about U, & the future, R enlivened & live happy lives within me..
Guided, as I am, with the visions before me, before we indeed, in sultry gladness,
and envisioned with so much more than anything that can be imagined..  YES, I agree in sadness..

My vision supersceeds my imagination, and I miss it being real already, and I miss U and...

More important than whether you hydrate your body or not, is when you choose to do so. This message is my compressed learnings from 2.5 years as resident and year plus Abbot of the Medicine Buddha tea house and healing center in SF, online at www.MedicineBuddhas.org, from where I am Tea Master and Chinese Tendon Massage Coach.

MORNING WATER SADHNA
The one thing I'll encourage you to do, starting this night if you have a thermos, is to boil and 10-minute-cool enough...

In less than a week will I be departing from my home of the past 4 months, more or less. More it is, it certainly has been, even though I've stayed here for less the 3 months, or even two, in this time. I have just sang what may be my last song in this home of family and friends, and even though I have days remaining before my eminent departure, I cannot help but feel that something precious is being missed. Will be missed, and hasn't been shared enough of.

The coming together of two different cultures is tenuous at best, and disastrous often enough. That I come from...

Dear Bloggers, I just realized that we haven't spoken with anyone about effective strategy for posting your content.

Many of you have great content, and we love it! The idea is to engage regular readers and casual visitors - to comment, to return, and to bring their friends by the quality and relevance of stuff they find here.  You are playing a crucial role in this regard.  Therefore, this post is something of a "Lessons Learned" message to help you improve your own effectiveness, and help our readers at the same time, while...

Conversations abound
about what's going around,
as thoughts of concilliation resound
in ways that presently confound..

How do I envision a world where love is found,
embellished and seen as it expounds,
and despite the hate present everywhere, rebounds,
as above all things, we hear of love - the sound?

Friends speak of simple things as if they were great and uttainable.  An example came this weekend, when in the presence of a few party animals from Oakland, CA, I came across the words "as if I were being abbot of a monastery"..  I had to speak up at that, because I have done it.  I have lived as an abbot of a monastery and benefitted from the teachings of Zen and Tea.
