2,800 miles (4,500 km), 38 hours of driving and 5 days of serenity in a road trip to the South West of Northern America. That was my last week's awesomely awesome trip to the Wild (very wild) West. I had the pleasure to spend this time with a great young family who came to visit the wonders of the South Western part of the US.

We left LA Monday early morning and in less than few hours we already were hit by the heat in Palm Springs, and few hours later we were swimming in the amazing Lake Havasu. There was no other option but getting in the water that day... either we are...

This week, while doing my daily walk around the raised beds, I noticed that 1 of the beds is populated with new mushrooms!

I never had any mushrooms growing in my garden and I think that it is due to the soil I brought in not long ago is the case here, but I am not really sure yet...

These mushrooms popup during the night (so I believe) and are in full size during the day. They do not last more than 1 day and dries out from the sun in a way that almost nothing is left from it.

Anyone has an idea which mushrooms they are (check the pictures below)?
Are they...

First I want to thank everybody who came and made it such a great night! I also want to thank Laurence for organizing the Garden Work Party on our roof, few hours before the One celebration, which was very helpful. I am especially thanking Carol Rhodes for the good advices about how to grow my plants and other advices about the garden in general.

As always, the One celebration was a beautiful event with great people and energies. This event was purely a celebration circle, which we got to take only one or two videos from....

It cannot be easier than that!

Our household now is in the loop of having enough green leaves to feed itself. We even have some surplus, which we share with our neighbors, who take care of the garden when we are not here.

Apparently greens like Aurugula and different types of lettuce really like hot and humid environment. Now, after experimenting for few months, I can say that this greenhouse endeavor worked very well for our bellies ;-)

The garden is a roof top garden, facing the winds from Lake Merritt and the SF Bay, which, in turn, gets its winds from the...

Every year at this time I am really overwhelmed by the cultural richness here in the Bay Area. Within this richness I see a common thread of behavior derived from our unbreakable relation to the nature. But, how amazing it is to see (after delving just a bit into our history) that our own truth has a sister, brother and actually, entire families and peoples.
We are all (whether aware of it or not) celebrating the light in the darkness and we all have specific customs how to disperse this lack of colors (and warmth), called darkness.

There is nothing more refreshing for me than being outdoors in the spring. What can be better than having a picnic in a green field of joy and flowers? (omit the bugs for this scene)

This spring I decided to take our roof garden one step forward, as far as how it is organized. So, the first thing I did was to design how I want my garden to be built in the most efficient way. I had to take into consideration the angle of the sun in the sky, the wind direction, draining path for the water and of course the right plants for this season.

I built this roof garden initially...

A hike in Northern California in the middle of the winter sounds very challenging and not really appealing... Guess what? That was an awesome forest-rain (cold) hike! I decided only on the same morning to join the girls (and Zeta) to this trip. Something attracted me to be outdoors (probably the fact that I haven't seen any mountain foothill covered with shiny green plants for ages...).

After experiencing enough rain and mud during hours upon hours of "hikes" in the nature, I find it odd that people do it on their own, in their private, free life! Though to be...
