You remember the famous quote from IBM's CEO, "There is a need for only 5 super-computers in the world?"( I personally have 3). Well, we are witnessing the same shifts with cars today. Remember, electric cars, being the most ridiculous idea based on "people will not want it". I think we are entering times of niches vs mainstream, where what fits me isn't necesseraly what fits my neighbour. Hence the emergence of new quotes such as this one.

Europeans urged their governments to make a real change during the post-Kyoto conference in Bali. They were thousands in England, France, Germany, Turky and Greece. Hundreds of people went in the street in Bali.
Some historical buildings shut off their lights, and bikers joined Strasbourg (France) and Kehl(Germany): climate change has no borders!

Travelers: start cleaning the air on your way to the airport!
For whoever is conscious about pollution due to cars, the question sounds obvious: why are the most used cars in the city not running on electricity or at least are not hybrid? Taxis, ambulances, firetrucks, deliveries, police cars...all those city-to-city services could run much more efficiently and of course save on gaz. Why hesitating then? For the Police cars, I'm guessing those cars have more protection than civil ones, hence require some "special production". But the other services?
