The People of Haiti Need Our Help: Earthquake Relief Donations

The huge earthquake that hit the island nation of Haiti on Tuesday is estimated to have a death toll of 50,000 currently, and quite possibly up to double that amount. Some estimates say that 3 million people are affected by the catastrophe, the strongest earthquake in the last 200 years for Haiti. Witnesses say that many buildings have collapsed due to poor design, and the people desperately need food, water, shelter, and medical attention.

World humanitarian organizations have stepped up to the call for relief in this disaster-stricken nation, and we'd like to let you know about some simple ways that you can help out the people of Haiti.

  • Donate directly to the American Red Cross from your mobile phone: text "Haiti" to 90999 on your cell phone to send a $10 donation to support Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti. All money raised goes to support Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti.
