For whoever is conscious about pollution due to cars, the question sounds obvious: why are the most used cars in the city not running on electricity or at least are not hybrid? Taxis, ambulances, firetrucks, deliveries, police cars...all those city-to-city services could run much more efficiently and of course save on gaz. Why hesitating then? For the Police cars, I'm guessing those cars have more protection than civil ones, hence require some "special production". But the other services?
Good news, I'm not the only one who wondered, and planettran.com is doing the job: a limo service on Prius! I took this service once, the driver told me they were saving 50% on gaz. 50%!! yes, that's what I call real savings. Planettran is only available in Boston and San Francisco, but I wish them to expand and be very successful...and of course give the idea to other taxi drivers.
