Veggie Soup and Flu
Winter is here and so the unwanted mycobacterium sizzling around, just waiting for the second you will reveal yourself to extreme conditions and become vulnerable.
So... what to do for not getting the cold?
Very simple, eat organized, some meat products, vegetables and drink warm if it makes you feel good . Of course, stay away from people who sneeze regularly and send signs to the world that they are going to have the flu. This, is if you are healthy and want to stay like this.
If you experience the following symptoms, you should consider admitting that you have some invasion of exterior pathogen, or as we say "the bad guys" came in. Generally there are few stages to this penetration of the germs and it’s important to differentiate in which stage you are at. I will deal here with the most exterior stage, which is the first one to happen and the easier one to handle and fight with products of mother earth, like Veggie Soup for example.
The conditions of exterior cold would be: 1. Simultaneous fever and chills, stuffy head, runny nose, thin coating on tongue (yes, there is something like that, look at the mirror), achiness, stiff neck, recent headache and intolerance to wind and cold.
So, if you suffer from few of these symptoms and there are no symptoms of deep weakness and any impact on internal organs (like lungs and digestive system) and fever without aversion to cold, the next treatment can be beneficial for you to stop the progress of the viruses, germs and other mal visitors:
* First, eat much less and use simple more liquid-based diet such as vegetable soup if chills predominant over the fever. If the fever predominates, use fruit or vegetable juices or fresh fruits. Grain soups can help too. (This is for not bringing more heat on existing heat)
* Second, use sweating therapy: Before you go to sweat, note that if you are exhausted, you have dry cough, fresh red tongue color or cheek bones and night sweat, your body might be over dehydrated if you add sweating to these conditions, so you will not want to sweat yourself away!
Sweating is good when your body is already coping with the invaders and you want to help your defense system.
How to sweat: drink a cup or more of diaphoretic herbal tea. After that take a hot bath or shower, drink more tea, cover with blankets and sweat. After sweating change the damp beddings and rest.
You might want to repeat this sweating method twice a day until the exterior signs are better. Note, again, that in case that the pathogen penetrated to an inner level and you sweat, you can harm more than help.
What kind of herbs/teas will make you sweat? There is a very long list of herbs; here are some that are common and beneficial for sweating. All these herbs can be taken as teas: Elder flowers, Cayenne red pepper (strong with vitamin c), Chamomile, Peppermint, Efedra Sinica (Ma huang), not legal in the US, but very useful in sweating, Fresh Ginger root (much better than dry ginger root for exterior conditions). Garlic - can often halt a cold if taken soon enough. In the day the symptoms start to appear, put between the chick and the teeth (yes, inside the mouth) for 20-30 minutes half peeled garlic (without chewing). Move it around occasionally to avoid "burning" your sensitive tissues in the mouth.
Helpful foods: Cabbage, Green peppers with their inside, Parsley, Carrots, Broccoli, Horseradish, Scallions, Lemon juice, Grapefruit, and most fruits.
Once the symptoms are gradually passing, introduce normal foods in order to build strength.
Et voila! Hope it helps you, feel free to comment or ask questions on this page.
Make sure that you see your doctor too, to be on the safe side. These suggestions above to treat your self are not a substitute for a visit at the Dr’s office.
